Udawalawe
Udawalawe, located in Sri Lanka’s southern region, is best known for the Udawalawe National Park, a sanctuary established to provide a safe haven for displaced wildlife during the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir.
The park’s open landscapes make it one of the premier locations to observe wild elephants in their natural environment, with herds often seen grazing near the reservoir.
In addition to elephants, the park supports a variety of other wildlife, including water buffalo, deer and a rich diversity of bird species, making it a favoured destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
