Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa served as the second capital of Sri Lanka following the decline of Anuradhapura in 993 AD. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features a well-preserved archaeological park that offers a glimpse into the island’s medieval history. The city flourished under the reign of King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century, who developed it into a thriving commercial and religious hub.
