Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary
The Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary is a protected wetland located between Chilaw and Puttalam in Sri Lanka’s North Western Province. Recognized as one of the six RAMSAR wetlands in the country, it encompasses a unique ecosystem that includes coastal mangroves, freshwater lakes and swamps.
The sanctuary is a haven for bird enthusiasts, hosting a diverse array of avian species, both resident and migratory. Visitors can observe species such as herons, cormorants, egrets and kingfishers in their natural habitats.
